As part of its ongoing efforts to provide the best academic and supportive environment for its students, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized an important discussion panel on the psychological and educational preparation of students
The discussion was led by Dr. Wafa Abdul Ali Hatab and aimed primarily at identifying the actual psychological needs of students and determining the most common psychological obstacles and difficulties they face during their studies. This initiative is part of the unit’s plan to improve students’ academic performance, provide them with specialized support, and help resolve psychological obstacles and difficulties that may affect their concentration and academic achievement. Through these activities, the College of Nursing affirms its keenness to provide an integrated educational environment that is not limited to the scientific aspect, but also includes psychological and educational support as essential elements for student success and excellence
This discussion session and the role of the Psychological Counseling Unit are a practical embodiment of the College of Nursing’s commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, as they directly contribute to the achievement of Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by providing psychological support and addressing difficulties that affect students’ mental health, thereby enhancing their overall well-being. It also contributes to Goal 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring an inclusive and equitable learning environment that provides learning opportunities for all. Addressing psychological and educational barriers enables students to get the most out of their education and achieve their best academic performance
